Earn a 12-credit graduate certificate in Health Care Management as you progress through your master’s degree program. Ask your advisor for details.
The accelerated program option is for undergraduate students currently enrolled in either the B.S. Health Care Management or B.S. Allied Health Leadership program who want to streamline their educational path to achieving a graduate degree. This option allows students to complete their bachelor’s and graduate degrees in a fast-tracked five-year timeline.
Qualifications:
- Current UNH undergraduate student enrolled in either the B.S. in Health Care Management or B.S. in Allied Health Leadership program.
- GPA of 3.2 or higher.
- Apply and be accepted into to one of the graduate programs of choice: MS Health Care Management or the Graduate Certificate in Health Care Management.
- Completed 90 undergraduate credits (to begin taking courses for dual credit). Most students apply in their junior year; once admitted to the program, students can begin taking select courses for dual credit, provided they’ve completed 90 undergraduate credits.

Our Accelerated Master of Science in Health Care Management (MSHCM) provides an opportunity for UNH undergraduate students to begin graduate study while completing a bachelor’s degree—making you stand out among other job applicants and increasing your earning potential. Qualified students can begin earning graduate credit during their undergraduate programs, allowing them to maximize their time on campus and return on their educational investment.
Accelerated Master's Requirements
- Student must have GPA of 3.2 or higher to qualify.
- Students must formally apply to the Graduate School and be accepted into the relevant Accelerated Master’s program before enrolling in the 800 level courses (streamlined application process requires 2 letters of recommendation instead of 3, most standardized tests and graduate application fee waived).
- Students must complete 90 credits before taking 800-level courses.
- Approved AM students must attend mandatory AM orientation to formally accept their offer of admission and declare their intended graduate program matriculation date. They will also be required to complete a special petition form every semester that they wish to receive undergraduate credit for an 800-level course. NOTE: In most programs, students may defer graduate program enrollment for up to 1 year.
- Qualified students may complete up to 12 credits at the 800-level during their undergraduate studies, earning dual credit toward their B.S. and M.S. degrees.
- Once a qualified student matriculates into the MSHCM program (after completing their undergraduate degree), students then complete the remaining required graduate level coursework to fulfill the 30-credit MSHCM program requirements.

Students will have the opportunity to:
- Identify and analyze the organizational, economic, political and legal components of health care delivery systems in the United States;
- Evaluate ethical issues relevant to the policies, practices, and management of health care ethics;
- Acquire functional knowledge of current health care management policies, practices and theory and develop, and communicate design solutions that guide health care organizations to change and adapt to future challenges;
- Conduct financial analysis, explain financial and accounting information for a health care organization;
- Synthesize and assimilate an understanding of the environmental factors and management skills required to be innovative and successful in the health care field;

New Hampshire Residents
Students claiming in-state residency must also submit a Proof of Residence Form. This form is not required to complete your application, but you will need to submit it after you are offered admission, or you will not be able to register for classes.
Transcripts
If you attended UNH or Granite State College (GSC) after September 1, 1991, and have indicated so on your online application, we will retrieve your transcript internally; this includes UNH-Durham, UNH-Manchester, UNH Non-Degree work and GSC.
If you did not attend UNH, or attended prior to September 1, 1991, then you must upload a copy (PDF) of your transcript in the application form. International transcripts must be translated into English.
If admitted, you must then request an official transcript be sent directly to our office from the Registrar's Office of each college/university attended. We accept transcripts both electronically and in hard copy:
- Electronic Transcripts: Please have your institution send the transcript directly to grad.school@unh.edu. Please note that we can only accept copies sent directly from the institution.
- Paper Transcripts: Please send hard copies of transcripts to: UNH Graduate School, Thompson Hall- 105 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824. You may request transcripts be sent to us directly from the institution or you may send them yourself as long as they remain sealed in the original university envelope.
Transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions must be submitted and applicants must disclose any previous academic or disciplinary sanctions that resulted in their temporary or permanent separation from a previous post-secondary institution. If it is found that previous academic or disciplinary separations were not disclosed, applicants may face denial and admitted students may face dismissal from their academic program.
Letters of Recommendation: 2 Required
Recommendation letters submitted by relatives or friends, as well as letters older than one year, will not be accepted.

A current resume is required with your submitted application.
Personal Statement/Essay Questions
Prepare a brief but careful statement regarding:
- Reasons you wish to do graduate work in this field, including your immediate and long-range objectives.
- Your specific research or professional interest and experiences in this field.
