What is Addictions Studies?
This minor introduces students to the issues associated with supporting people involved with addictive behaviors. Students will study the foundational principles of providing counseling services to individuals with addiction issues as well as the disease model and characteristic needs of this population.
Why study Addictions Studies at UNH College of Professional Studies?
If seeking careers in the addiction field, this minor can lead to a role in human services. A minor in addictions studies can also expand on healthcare roles that would include working with this population. Potential career areas are in support roles in the addiction field. Depending on the state and hours required, this minor can lead to recovery coach, addictions specialist, or a substance use disorder counseling position (based on state requirements and licensure).
Curriculum & Requirements
All minor courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C-, and a 2.0 grade point average must be maintained in courses for the minor. Two courses must be at the upper level (600 or 700). Only 8 credits may overlap between major and minor.
